Existing companies that produce and distribute gangster films

In this task, I will be looking at existing companies that produce an distribute gangster films such as the well known: Warner Brothers who have helped produce a huge, twenty six gangster films including: White heat, Angels with dirty faces, the roaring twenty's... See the whole list below:

From this task, i have found that distributors tend to make similar films to what they already produced and can use this information useful for my production. 

History of gangster films and typical conventions

From this research i have learnt all about the history of gangster films and the main concept of what makes a gangster film (the conventions). I will be requiring this for my final production as not just good knowledge is required to create a gangster opening but also the main conventions and history of how gangster films got to where they are today. Researching my sub genre Mob films has give me the ideas i need to produce my final production. From this research i have found that my sub genre 'MOB' normally has quite a high budget and so from this i will have to plan out ways on cutting down such as guerilla recording which is recording a location without permission as the permission will most likely cost millions which I cannot afford. Furthermore I have discovered many different gangster films with a variety of sub genres such as:

• Mob Film 
• Detective Film
• Modern Gangster Film 
• Noir Film
• Thriller
